DJ Jazzy Wee laying down the mad beatsLIVE! from the Gonzales Bungalow Room at the beautiful Chez Grad, The full Geaux Show crew makes its triumphant return to the airwaves. They're playing all your favorite hits including Who Burnt the Brisket?, a very early look at the 09 football season, a preview of Superfight 2: Chase v. Marvin-The Rematch, and probably the best baseball segment ever done in the 5-year history of the show. Available now on your favorite podcast device or by clicking the photo to your left.

  • Dave Neal, formerly of the 3 Daves Trio on the now defunct JP/LF/Raycom/Heat-Death Sports Network, has been hired along with Andre Ware and Cara Capuano to cover ESPN's locally syndicated SEC games. I have a sinking feeling that ESPN may have hired alot of Raycom guys to handle this game. Hope remains that the quality will improve.

  • Also from that link, Pam Ward will continue being the worst college football commentator on the planet. Fear the ESPN2 afternoon game, people.

  • Two more Tigers have signed their pro contracts. Ochinko with Toronto, playing for the Auburn (N.Y.) Doubledays in the Class A New York-Penn League and Cain with Detroit, playing for the Lakeland (Fla.) Flying Tigers in the Class A Advanced Florida State League.

  • In news none of us likes to hear, It looks like LSU is facing some serious budget cuts. Good thing the AD is self sustaining....

  • Jared Mitchell has signed a $1.2Mil contract with the White Sox. He's getting right back into the game, and will be starting for the Class A Kannapolis Intimidators (N.C.) Tonight against the Lakewood BlueClaws. It's Bike night at Kannapolis, if youre interested.
  • Marcus Thornton has officially signed with the Hornets.
  • Lack of news from summer camp continues, though I expect a few reports about how the team is progressing to appear sometime before the weekend.

  • Washington's Scout page is reporting they just lost 2 of their running backs to academic issues, including Brandon Johnson who was set to take a starting role this season. While this may seem like big news, UW still has 4 other RB's on scolarship and has arguably had the worst rushing game in the Pac-10 for some time now.
  • BTW, I really don't enjoy Scout.com pages. If you know of any great UW blogs drop us a line.
  • Not much news today as summer practice continues, and no news is good news for now.

There will be a Geaux Show taping this weekend. Not sure if it will be live yet, but if you have any questions or topics you like us to cover, use that contact link on the left.

  • LSU will become the last SEC football team to put their name on their jerseys, starting this season. Luckily it will just be the wordmark logo you can barley see in the center of the jersey. I share the unnecessary worry many tiger fans have when changes to the uniform happen but if there is good news in this, it is that Toonces may have finally been shown the door.
  • Sean Ochinko has signed with the Blue Jays. It was expected, but it will still hurt to lose a great player like that. Fr pitcher Randy Zeigler has also left the team, transferring to Bossier City Community College. And you can find a preliminary 2010 Baseball Schedule here.
  • If traveling to Vegas or Orlando this summer, be sure to catch Chris Johnson, Terry Martin, and Garrett Temple, who are all playing in the NBA Dev League.
