Tigers got back to work on monday, but the news has slowed. Their should be some good monday practice wrap-ups from the usual sources up sometime today. One of the best bits we missed from the weekend is this bit in The Advoc about what it's like for Crowton and Chavis to be working on the same team now.

You can tell the off-season has been too long when Pittman at ATVS starts getting paranoid about a potential defensive scheme change. Only 25 days to go, hang in their buddy.

A surprising amount of basketball news today. LSU will be one of the regional hosts for this falls NIT Season Tipoff. And Big Baby has signed to a new 2-year deal with the Celtics.

A pretty sparse gumbo today, as you can tell. If you've got a favorite news paper of blog about the tigers that you don't see in the links section to your left, let us know about it.

TRAVIS SPRADLING /The Advocate I should not have taken the weekend off. Hold on for more links than you can shake a stick at.

Fan day and media day was this weekend. You can catch the press conferences, both video and transcripts, at LSUSports.net along with a great gallery of pics here. Couldn't make it to fan day? The Advoc's got it covered.

HAIL MINGOVIA! OUR FEARLESS LEADER NOW PRACTICES WITH THE GRIZZLED VETERANS AND COULD SEE THE FIELD THIS SEASON! SEC, YOU ARE NOT PREPARED!

Today's photo of OUR FEARLESS LEADER comes from The Advoc's Tiger Tracks Blog, which I could read all day and not be finished with. It is indeed what the written portion of this site wants to be when it grows up.

As expected, a practice media-splosion over the last few days with everyone from the DL Coach to our starting Left Guard getting a nice, "How I Spent my Summer Vacation" story. While it sounds lame, these pieces are chock full of valuable information for the season. For example, a pronunciation guide for Dworaczyk (it's Door-ah-sic).

Here's a bit of Deja-vu for you long time Geaux Show fans, it's James Varney of the Times-Pic, seemingly recording live from his front porch. if only his rocking chair squeaked...

Varney also has a good review of Saturday's practice action here. Also see his bit on our new starting full back, recently converted OL Richard Dugas.

From the clearly off-season-addled mind of Poseur at ATVS comes this study into the Myth/Reality of the Death Valley advantage vs. the rest of the SEC stadiums. The outcome is expected, but the trip is what you are reading it for.

Just when i thought the baseball news was over, Zack Von Rosenberg, the top of our recruiting class this year, has signed a "7 figure" deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Sure it sucks, but that's the state of baseball recruiting today.

On a bit of an "Inside Baseball" note, the SEC is in the process of implementing a rather draconian media policy this year which seems to be built, like the NFL's policy, to the detriment of local tv, radio, and papers and is especially hard on the blogger types like ourselves. Though I dont see how "forbidding fans from taking photographs or sharing accounts or descriptions of the event." is even enforcible in this day and age when everyone has a camera, camcorder, voice recorder, and/or internet capable device in their pocket. It certainly isn't going to stop us from talking about the game on our show, or the live blogs i plan to do this year from my seat in the stands.

Oh yeah, I plan to do ongoing live blogs from the moment the geaux show saturday morning spectacular ends (more on that later) till i leave my seat in the stands. They are sure to be a complete disaster filled with drunken ramblings and now with the bonus of violating SEC media rules! Stay tuned for the fun!

The 1st full day of practice is over and LSUSports.net is overflowing with pics and video interviews. They certainly seem to be getting a handle on this whole "internet" thing.

As we have no reporters in the field, we will continue to live vicariously through the words of The Advoc, Times-Pic, Tiger Rag, and everyone's favorite retiree living the dream, Dandy Don.

Miles has gone on record saying that for now Fr. Russel Shepard will be considered a "quarterback only" which has raised some worries among the paranoid.

Only 2 Tigers are stuck in the clearinghouse, S Craig Loston and LB Tahj Jones. (Update: Tahj Jones was cleared yesterday and will begin practice this afternoon)This article also has a good breakdown of which tigers are bringing injuries to camp and when they are expected to play again.

The preseason coaches poll is out this morning. LSU starts at #9, ahead of Ole Miss(10) and Georgia (13), behind Florida(1) and Bama(5).

A few last bits of baseball news. Pitcher Joey Bourgeois and Outfielder Trey Watkins from LSU-E have taken the step up and will be Tigers next season.  Austin Nola hit for the cycle in a summer league game on Wednesday.

Fall practice continues today, and their will probably be enough news for a Saturday Link Gumbo. Also, be prepared for The Geaux Show Pre-Season Spectacular, which will be taped next Sunday.

More tigers have made their way onto the preseason watch lists. Charles Scott for the Doak Walker (RB) and Jordan Jefferson for the O'Brien (QB). Charles Scott is obvious, but with only 2 1/2 games of playing time, i'm not sure Jefferson belongs on the list of top 33 college QB's. Hope he proves me wrong though.

Tigers arrive for camp today, with practice starting tomorrow. Gonna be a hot, muggy week for practice, just the way we like it.

Thats it for another slow news day, but you can expect training camp reports to start during the week.

Richard Dickson has been named to the Mackey Award watch list for the nation's top tight end.

A reminder that Fan Day is this Sunday at the Riverside Centroplex River Center starting at 2:30 pm.

The Advoc has a great story with Jefferson and Lee talking about how they are preparing for the season. Lee in particular seems determined to regain respect from the tiger faithful after last years impressive though ultimately disastrous performance.

In disturbing conference news, Auburn is starting a reserved tailgating program. Spots come with chairs and tables setup for you and cost a whopping $4,275 a season or as much as $1,250 a game. They are in an area that had been previously open to tailgating, but had been closed in recent years for construction. As you would expect some barners are extremely upset, as well they should be. I sure hope Alleva doesn't get any bright ideas about the area behind the union, or anywhere else for that matter. Constant vigilance, tiger fans.
